Our Volunteers are at the heart of OPAC

Join the team that helps make every OPAC performance an exceptional experience from the moment the doors open.

Volunteering at OPAC

Volunteers are an essential part of OPAC, welcoming guests and helping each event run smoothly. They serve as greeters, ticket takers, and ushers during performances, and may also represent OPAC at special events throughout the community.

Volunteering at OPAC is a fun and rewarding way to meet new people, support the arts, and play an important role in the success of one of Alabama’s busiest performing arts venues. Volunteers can select the performances they wish to work while becoming part of a friendly, diverse team committed to outstanding service.

Who Can Volunteer?

We Need Volunteers Who Are:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Friendly, courteous, and professional when working with guests, staff, and fellow volunteers
  • Able to follow staff direction and remain calm during emergencies
  • Able to use stairs and stand for an hour or longer; opportunities are also available for those with limited mobility
  • Neat in appearance and able to pass a criminal background check

What Do Volunteers Do?

Volunteers work primarily during performances, serving as greeters, ticket-takers, and ushers. Volunteers arrive one hour and fifteen minutes before the performance start time.

Volunteers must be willing to sign up for and work a variety of events. Volunteers may choose their own performances. Assignments are given on a first-come first-served basis.
